Job Description: LPN (Clinical Float Nurse)

The Clinical Float Nurse performs nursing duties in a medical office setting. Provides coverage in clinical areas as assigned on a daily basis. Clinical areas include infusion suite, provider pods, lab and other departments.
Position Summary of Major Accountabilities
- Provide injections, infusions, and other treatments to patients as directed by a physician.
- Perform fingersticks, collect blood draws & access ports.
- Perform phlebotomies.
- Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate equipment and instruments.
- Perform quality controls and calibrate equipment.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs.
- Explain treatment procedures to patients and their families.
- Perform pre-certifications, scheduling incoming/outgoing referrals, triaging patient calls when covering in ancillary areas.
- Observe and report patients’ reactions to medications and treatments.
- Prepare patients for examinations and/or other procedures, explain procedures, supply information about medications.
- Maintain MIPS documentation and equipment care.
- Provide coverage in clinical areas, as assigned on daily basis.
- Assist other members of the clinical departments as needed.
- Assist with procedures and tests in conjunction with patient visits.
- Assist the Providers as needed.
- Communicate with team members to ensure proper coverage.
- Provide lunch coverage for clinical staff, as needed.
- Communicate scheduling needs to back up staff member when taking PTO.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of an LPN license in NC.
- Familiarity with EMR system.
- 2-5 years of related work preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of medical office protocols/procedures.
- Critical thinking skills, meticulous attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills essential.
- Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude with patients, team members and other healthcare professionals.
- Must ensure that patients receive the best possible care by following established procedures and protocols.
Salary:
