The Regional Office of Education #33 is seeking to hire a full-time custodian for our Galesburg location.
We are seeking a responsible person to maintain, clean, and manage upkeep of our facility. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian/ maintenance role and focused on building upkeep. A keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative.
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintaining and upkeeping our facilities. The custodian/ maintenance will be responsible for building management, communication with supervisor and with custodial team and thorough cleaning of Galesburg Office. The custodian/ maintenance is expected to ensure the completion of all maintenance projects throughout the building and follow up with the approval and scheduling of needed services of building/maintenance requests.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ROE Services
- Ensure there are proper supplies in order to perform cleaning duties (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning etc.).
- Wipe down all surfaces and door handles.
- Dust all areas of the building.
- Sweep/vacuum all floors.
- Mop floors weekly.
- Wash windows weekly.
- Clean all restrooms daily.
- Change light bulbs as needed.
- Carry out heavy cleaning as assigned.
- Notify management of areas needing repairs.
- Check and take out trash daily.
- Take out recycling as needed.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Maintain safety data sheets.
- Keep building and premises, including sidewalks and parking lots neat and clean at all times.
- Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
- Remove snow where appropriate. Salt walkways and parking lots
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning.
- Maintain building inventory for cleaning supplies and building supplies.
- Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
- Keep storage rooms neat and orderly.
- Keep boiler room neat and orderly.
- Keep janitor closets neat and orderly.
- Dispose of all cardboard.
- Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep building/maintenance requests.
- Ensure rooms/offices are maintained and fully equipped.
- Ensure building lights are shut off and building doors are locked securely at conclusion of shift.
- Provide a weekly/ daily task list for the supervisor and communicate schedule regularly with supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of ROE Services.
SCHEDULING
7.5 hours per day/ 37.5 hours per week, fall/summer schedule 12-8:30pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch/dinner break, winter/spring schedule 7-3:30pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch/dinner break
