- Model lessons in classrooms.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding curriculum, assessments, and data analysis.
- Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum that is taught is consistent with District initiatives and recognized as best instructional practices.
- Assist the instructional staff in understanding the District mission and core values.
- Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction in all disciplines and at all levels.
- Assist teachers with the planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide constructive feedback for expediting professional growth and student achievement.
- Develop individualized coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
- Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, and information to support classroom instruction and planning.
- Provide weekly, ongoing technical support to collaborative teams within buildings.
- Support the instructional staff by sharing multiple instructional strategies and processes with teachers.
- Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development topics and designs.
- Provide job-embedded, informal professional learning to the instructional staff.
- Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests or coaching documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Five years of experience in education as a teacher or administrator, and (2) Professional Educator License (PEL) for applicable grades with applicable endorsements
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Demonstrated teacher leadership; (2) knowledge of curriculum development and implementation; and, (3) proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: Provide instructional assistance and support to teachers in the classroom with the intent of improving student and teacher performance in targeted areas as identified, increasing professional development and learning opportunities with the instructional staff, and instituting positive change in teaching practices.

Performance Responsibilities:
The instructional coach is responsible for improving student achievement through improvements in teaching practices. The role of the coach is to increase teacher capacity and understanding of instructional practices and curriculum. Instructional coaches are expected to work collaboratively with all teachers in the building, promote reflection, provide guidance and structure when necessary, ensure high-quality instruction in all classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and constructive feedback, and demonstrate a passion of instruction and educational reform.
