The Coord Tissue Recovery acts as principal liaison between Perioperative Services and Physicians to ensure continuity of service, accurate patient status, supplies, bone/tissue coordination and appropriate scheduling of patient surgeries. Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to improve patient services and clinical quality.
What you will do
- 1. Serves as liaison to maintain bone and tissue.
- 2. Maintains a safe, efficient and accurate tissue management process.
- 3. Coordinates on the job training to new and existing staff who come into contact with tissue and bone needing to be tracked and documented.
- 4. Provides direction and basic onsite supervision related to receiving/storage/tracking/documentation/regulatory compliance of all bone and tissue.
- 5. Provides ongoing communication with interdisciplinary staff to identify and proactively resolve potential barriers.
- 6. Daily rounds to facilitate appropriate tissue management.
- 7. In conjunction with Director, department managers, physicians and perioperative staff coordinates patient’s surgical plan of care for appropriate sequencing of perioperative care.
- 8. Reviews the next day schedule and validates accuracy of information, order of cases and attending physician. Coordinates the surgery schedule insuring accuracy of all required information in order to provide excellent delivery of service by the multidisciplinary surgical team.
- 9. Using clinical knowledge and appropriate criteria, in conjunction with physicians, manages efficient patient flow and anticipates tissue and bone requirements.
- 10. Facilitates appropriate tissue, bone, materials and resource utilization.
- 11. Orders all bone and tissue and assures proper handling, receiving, storage, documentation and regulatory compliance.
- 12. Monitors and addresses the appropriate utilization of bone, tissue and products purchased.
- 13. Tracks expenses and submits requisitions for approval. Monitors and reports cost reductions. Recommends cost saving measures.
- 14. Makes recommendation for products or process changes. Assist with implementation of approved changes.
- 15. Consults and/or works collaboratively with Materials Management, Perioperative Business Manager, department managers, staff and other departments including physicians related to cost reduction of bone, tissue and surgical supplies. Assist with implementation of approved changes.
- 16. Assists Director with administrative/staff management duties, as required.
- 17. Performs standard of care/key performance indicator audits and regulatory/accreditation compliance activities. Monitors department quality and patient flow indicators
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved nursing school/program Required
- Bachelor of Science (BSN) Preferred
- Registered nurse licensure or permit to work in the state of TN Upon Hire Required
- Current CPR/BLS certifications Required
- Two (2) years surgical experience Preferred
