What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN-Wound Ostomy Continence position at Regional One Health?
Summary:
Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of complex wounds, ostomies, and continuous care throughout the organization. Functions primarily as consultant: provides direct patient care and education to selected patients. Establishes standards of care and clinical competencies to meet patients’ needs and training programs to ensure clinical expertise. Provides leadership in the development, coordination, and monitoring of wound care programs, and system measurements to improve clinical outcomes.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required, MSN preferred. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with adult, adolescence, neonate and/or geriatric patients as specialty assignment dictates.
Experience Requirement:
Six (6) months of nursing experience required. New graduates would need to complete a nurse residency program before consideration for this department. Experience in critical care, burn trauma care, or wound, ostomy and continuous nursing preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirement:
Registered Nurse licensure to work in state of TN. Current BLS certification required. Current certification as a WOCNCB® (Wound/Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board), or must obtain within the first two years of employment.

Physical Demands/Conditions:
- Prolonged standing and walking; lifting, turning patients and equipment; repeated bending, squatting and stooping; exposure to infectious agents. Visual acuity is needed to assess color changes, to verify accuracy of written materials, and to administer and accurately prepare medications. Heavy Work - Exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (May be further defined as "with or without assistance.")
