Position Summary :
The Controller will oversee and manage all accounting and financial reporting activities for Regional One , an aerospace leasing, trading, and parts sales business. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role will be responsible for strategic and departmental leadership and the day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), inventory management, general ledger functions, tax compliance, internal controls, and audit management.
The Controller will lead a team of accounting professionals, supervising several direct and indirect reports, and mentor the staff, working closely with both the parent company (EIC) and external partners to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and operational excellence. This position works in a matrix environment, with numerous stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include working with the IT team to drive process automation and support the company's overall growth and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Accounting and Financial Reporting :
Oversee the preparation and timely reporting of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring adherence to IFRS.
Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.Provide oversight to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.Ensure proper accounting for aircraft leasing, trading transactions, and parts sales, in compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.Prepare and submit quarter-end financial reporting package "Matrix" for Board Report submission.Team Management and Development :Strategic and direct responsibilities for the leadership, coaching, and mentoring of both direct and subordinate reports, comprised of a team of accounting professionals, including the AR, AP, inventory, and general ledger teams.
Conduct regular performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and ensure continuous professional development for team members.Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture, driving accountability and performance.Internal Controls and Compliance :Design, implement, and monitor internal control systems to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Manage the internal and external audit processes, working closely with auditors to ensure timely and efficient audits.Review and approve accounting policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices and corporate standards.Tax Compliance :Oversee state and local, as well as foreign VAT tax filings and compliance with the assistance of the parent corporate tax teams.
Collaborate with the parent company's tax department to maintain compliance with tax regulations and manage transfer pricing issues, as applicable.Balance Sheet Management :Assist the CFO in managing the company's balance sheet, including reviewing and reconciling all balance sheet accounts.
Manage key accounting estimates and reserves, ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.Subsidiary Accounting :Direct and ensure the accuracy of subsidiary accounting, and the consolidation of entities including CPPI, EALL, EIIF CRJ Aero, and Team JAS.
Provide guidance on the preparation of subsidiary financial statements and ensuring alignment with group accounting standards.Prepare and review elimination schedules at a consolidated basis for Regional One for intercompany and sister entitiesProcess Automation and Improvements :Collaborate with the IT department to drive the automation of accounting processes, improving efficiency and accuracy.
Lead continual process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance data accuracy, and reduce operational costs.Financial Systems and Software :Work with the IT team to enhance financial systems, ensuring effective integration and functionality to support business operations.
Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve accounting operations and technology tools.Support to Parent Company :Provide financial and accounting support to the parent company (EIC), including the timely submission of financial reports, forecasts, and any ad-hoc requests.
Ad-Hoc Projects and Strategic Initiatives :Participate in special projects, financial analysis, and due diligence activities as requested by the CFO or other senior management.
Provide insights and recommendations on financial and operational matters to support business growth and strategic initiatives.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, CPA preferred .Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role leading at least two levels of authority and influence.Experience in the aerospace or aviation industry is a plus.Understanding of IFRS, internal controls, and audit practices.Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.Experience with tax compliance, including federal, state, and international tax matters.Proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with ERP systems is highly desirable.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Proficiency in English and in MS Office.High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.What Sets You Apart :
