POSITION TYPE AND STATUS:
High School Science Teacher, 1 FTE begins August 25, 2025
Located a ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, RSU 23 is a 700 student, three-school district seeking a Science Teacher to join our team. OOBHS is a 200 student enrollment campus. The successful candidate should possess the following:
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Citizenship, residency or work visa
- Maine State Teaching Certifications #350 (7-12 Physical Science- Required) and #395 (7-12 Life Science- Preferred)
- Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/fingerprinting
QUALIFICATIONS / JOB SUMMARY:
- Extensive knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for Science
- Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and share best practices
- Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous, relevant, and engaging scienceinstruction to students of varying abilities
- Collaborates with parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders and other stakeholders to promote and support student success
- Experience and demonstrated success teaching a variety of science courses
- Ability to integrate technology to enhance instruction
- Interest in participating in the school community outside of the classroom.
