Title: Teacher of Multilingual Learners
Description: RSU 57 is looking for a Multilingual Learner (ML) Teacher to work with PreK-12 learners district wide. The ML teacher will be responsible for designing, providing and coordinating educational services for multilingual learners in multiple schools across the district.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Maintains or is eligible for Maine certification: Endorsement 660 - English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Teacher
Familiarity with Maine State Law regarding Multilingual Learners
Evidence of successful teaching experience
Ability to collaborate with staff to ensure coordination of services throughout the district
Reports to: Building Principal/Director of Curriculum & Instruction
Coordinates with: Classroom Teachers, Principals, Support Staff
Job Goal: To directly serve and support Multilingual Learners at multiple schools
Performance Responsibilities:
Collaborate and consult with general education teachers to enhance acquisition of English in all language domains necessary to participate and make progress in general education classes.
Coordinate the administration of English Language Proficiency assessments (ACCESS) for identified Multilingual Learners (MLs).
Use school and student level assessment data to inform instruction and programming support for Multilingual Learners (MLs).
Provide and support rigorous and appropriate instruction aligned with the WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards.
Facilitate effective communication among teachers, parents, and support staff regarding ML students’ academic needs.
Maintain accurate Multilingual Learner cumulative files and communicate changes to necessary staff and administration.
Participate in ongoing professional development including staff meetings.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and school committee policies.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Salary, work year and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation.
