The Coding Compliance Auditor & Educator plays a crucial role in ensuring that the health care services provided at Regional West Medical Center meet all regulatory standards and coding accuracy. This position involves conducting thorough audits of medical records and coding practices to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and delivering educational programs to staff, enhancing their understanding of compliance requirements and coding best practices. By fostering a culture of compliance and continuous learning, this role directly contributes to the overall quality of patient care and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Coding Compliance Auditor & Educator will help safeguard the integrity of the medical center's billing processes and ensure adherence to industry regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related field.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - APC or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - AHIMA certification.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs for healthcare staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related field.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular audits of medical records and coding practices to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Identify and analyze discrepancies in coding and documentation, providing actionable feedback to relevant staff.
- Develop and implement educational programs and training sessions for clinical and administrative staff on coding standards and compliance requirements.
