Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse
Supervised by: Director of Nursing
Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse; duties may include chart audits, 24-hour chart checks, monitoring of temperature logs & compliance with glucose control testing. Other duties may be assigned by the charge RN but must remain within the Licensed Practical Nurse’s scope of practice. Assists in the planning and implementation of nursing care to patients of Regions Behavioral Hospital. Administers medications to patients according to hospital policies & procedures. Care is performed in accordance with the physician’s orders and under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Regulatory Requirements:
* Current Louisiana LPN license
* Minimum 12 months experience in direct patient care, preferably in psychiatric setting.
Language Skills:
* Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
* Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
* Knowledge of medications and the ability to perform safe medication administration and education to patients and families.
* Basic computer knowledge.
* Strong bedside manner.
* Certified in CPR
* Certified in crisis/violence intervention
