What are the responsibilities and job description for the ER Tech / ERT (nights) position at Regions Hospital?

Regions Hospital is one of only three hospitals in Minnesota that is verified as a Level I Trauma Center for both adults and for children with the expertise and technology to treat the most serious injuries 24/7. Our Emergency Department is designed to treat patients in acuity-based care pods. You'll find yourself in a fast-paced environment with over 90,000 ED visits per year. As an Emergency Room Technician, you will perform delegated patient care functions within the Emergency Department to include:
- Assisting nursing staff with patient room placement, transfers and discharges on a consistent basis
- Assisting patients with ADL's including wound cleansing, bathing, skin care, feeding, positioning, and assisting with transfers and ambulations
- Assisting patient with bowel and bladder elimination
- Collecting routine patient specimens
- Responding to patient call lights and requests promptly
- Accompanying patients to procedures off the unit, as directed
- Observing & accurately documenting mental health patient security checks as applicable
- Documenting in EPIC accurately, completely and timely and in accordance with departmental policies
Qualifications:
Education: High School degree or equivalent required, plus at least one of the following:
- Graduate of a nursing assistant program
- Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician training program
- Experience in an acute care or long-term care setting as a Nursing Assistant (minimum 2080 hours worked experience)
- Experience as an Emergency Room Tech or Emergency Dept Tech (minimum 2080 hours worked experience)
- Current EMT certification (MN and/or National)
- Current Nursing Assistant certification (MN)
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers) required upon start of employment and demonstrates every two years thereafter competency in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The year when demonstration of competency is not required a general review of CPR is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or Emergency Medical Technician training program
Experience: Recent work experience in an acute care or hospital setting as a Nursing Assistant or as an Emergency Room Tech/Emergency Dept Tech
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: current MN EMT or Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
