Summary
The Graduate Intern for Commuter Life and Multicultural Student Engagement is a 12-month 30 hour/week program coordinator position. The role serves as member of the Center for Student Engagement team, supporting student leadership development and facilitating a variety of co-curricular learning opportunities in partnership with student clubs and organizations.
Essential Job Functions:
Student Engagement Responsibilities
- Serve as a co-advisor to the Multicultural Student Council with the Director of the Center for Student Engagement (CSE).
- Coordinate bi-weekly meetings of the Multicultural Student Council.
- Support multicultural student engagement through recruitment and promotion of events hosted by the Multicultural Student Council and the Center for Inclusive Excellence.
- Serve as the primary advisor to cultural organizations on campus.
- Create and implement vibrant commuter programming including the Commuter Café, Commuter Breakfast, and Commuter Advisory Council.
- Oversee commuter student resources including a Commuter Newsletter, Commuter Lockers, and Transportation/Shuttle Information.
- Assist with the coordination and management of club and organization events, CSE evening and weekend events, and traditional college-wide events (i.e., Welcome Week, Student Club Fair, Christmas Tree Lighting, and Spring Week).
- Support the outreach, public relations, and advertising efforts for the CSE.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Residence Life Responsibilities
- Train in incident management and crisis protocol with the Office of Residence Life and Housing.
- Serve as a member of the Professional Staff On-Call (PSOC) within Regis’ 24/7 Residence Life On-Call System. Rotation consistency is variable and agreed upon at the beginning of each semester. Responsibilities to include the following:
- Respond to on-campus issues or concerns as they arise, facilitate response with appropriate parties, and serve as support staff to resident assistants and Campus Police wherever needed.
- Communicate with appropriate offices on campus regarding the welfare of residents.
- Complete and distribute duty log by 9 am for weekday duties.
- Participate in regular Residence Life meetings, including Tuesday morning staff meeting and any training related to on-call policies or procedures.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Directly supervise RA staff when on call, plus participation in all staff training (paraprofessional and professional).
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Internship applicants must be accepted, provisionally or fully, into an eligible graduate program.

- Interest/experience in higher education, leadership development and event management.
- A positive attitude and an understanding of the importance of being open-minded and flexible.
- Proven experience in managing projects and people.
- Proficiency in social media platforms.
- Considerable evening and weekend hours required.
- A valid driver’s license is desirable.
- Considerable evening and weekend hours may be required.
Stipend & Benefits:
- $6,000 stipend (12-month).
- Live-on position with room and full meal plan.
- Tuition remission for two (2) eligible Regis graduate courses/semester, with a maximum of six graduate courses (18 credits) per academic year.
- The following campus-based programs are eligible for tuition remission:
- 60 credits of MA in Counseling (24 credits are not covered by tuition remission. The supervised field experience must be completed after the graduate intern role is complete.)
- 33 credits of MS in Regulatory and Clinical Research Management
- 30 credits of MS in Digital Marketing and Communications
- The following fully online programs qualify for tuition remission on a space-available basis:
- 33 credits of MS in Health Administration
- 42 credits of Master of Public Health (6 credits are not covered by tuition remission
- 30 credits of Master of Social Work.
- Courses in Graduate Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Speech Language Pathology, and Doctor of Education programs are not eligible for tuition remission. Training and professional development opportunities.
- The following campus-based programs are eligible for tuition remission:
- Flexible schedule.
NOTE: This is a 12-month position, with the opportunity to continue the position for one additional 12-month term (24-month maximum).
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
- Occasional exposure to extreme noise at campus events.
- Requires work outside during events.
- May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
- Involves attendance at evening and weekend events.
- This is a live-in position.
