Position
As a History Teacher, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to work with approximately 530 exceptional, gifted young men, talented faculty, and committed staff. Located in New York City, Regis High School is a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory school and the only Jesuit, full-scholarship high school in the country. The school was founded in 1914 through the extraordinary generosity of an anonymous woman and her family. Position Summary
Regis seeks a qualified candidate to join its staff as a History Teacher beginning September 2025. This is a full-time, faculty position. Position comes with full benefits. Work hours may vary and will include some evenings and weekends for special school events. Salary is competitive for the New York City area and is commensurate with experience. The 2025-2026 school year for faculty members ends on Friday, June 12, 2025.
Job Responsibilities
Supports and is willing to advance the Catholic and Jesuit mission of the school.
Will perform services that include the preparation of examinations, the correction and assignment of grades, and assigned proctoring.
Responsible also for ongoing professional development, academic conferences with students and parents, individual guidance of students, serving as an academic advisor with a student advisement group, direction of student extracurricular activities, service on faculty committees, active service in studying department and school issues, preparation of syllabi, attendance at events listed in the school’s Faculty Handbook under “Faculty Staff Participation in Key Events,” attendance at faculty meetings, and participation in other such professional incidental services, in the judgment of the Principal, the needs of the school require.
Will be generally available to the students in their assigned department resource center through the school day when not teaching class; further, is to have one hour after school availability weekly, according to a schedule subject to the approval of the Principal.
Works in collaboration with the administration in observing the principles and ideals for which Regis stands.
Devotes energy to teaching in conformity with the policies of Regis High School and is subject at all times to the general control and supervision of the Principal.

Qualifications & Skills
The ability to teach United States History, World History I (Ancient and Medieval periods) and World History II (Modern Era) at an advanced level.
Potentially serving as a teacher in the Student Historian Project (SHP) program, an elective class offered to students during their sophomore year. As an SHP teacher, you will work with a small cohort (4-5) of students, supervising their independent research projects in preparation for them presenting their research at a symposium at the end of the school year.
In their second year, the teacher will design a two-trimester senior elective and a one-trimester senior elective of their own choosing.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Successful teaching experience – high school or higher education, preferred.
Familiarity with and understanding of instructional technology.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in History or Education is required.
Master’s Degree in History or Education is preferred. Evidence of continuing education through conferences, seminars, or professional associations is preferred.
Status
This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Compensation & Benefits
$73,093 Salary range is commensurate with years of experience and level of success in the institutional advancement area. Most benefits go into effect immediately. Participation in the 403 (b) begins after one year of employment.
Other Expectations
A willingness to work at times outside the normal school day and school year, including weekend events and summer activities.
The school expects one to conduct oneself at all times in a manner which shall not bring reproach upon oneself or the school.
