Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination of daily transportation activities, including scheduling drivers, assigning loads, negotiating rates and tracking deliveries.
- Communicate with drivers to provide instructions, updates, and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and driver logs.
- Monitor driver compliance with DOT regulations, including hours of service and vehicle safety standards.
- Verify that owner-operators and drivers have the necessary licenses, insurance, and certifications.
- Assist with the planning and optimization of transportation routes.
- Coordinate solutions for delays, accidents, or mechanical problems en route.
- Support the implementation of safety initiatives and procedures.
- Perform periodic inspections of equipment, maintenance record, insurance and update relevant documents.
- Review and manage documentation required for the onboarding of owner-operators.
- Assist with the maintenance of complete and accurate records for each vehicle in the fleet and the transported cargo.
- Ensure compliance with DOT and ELD regulations.
- Monitor driver qualifications and training.
- Inspect loads to ensure proper loading and securement.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient transportation operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation or logistics support.
- Experience in handling perishable refrigerated goods is preferred.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written, to communicate effectively with a diverse team of drivers, team members, and clients.
- Experience with GPS tracking systems.
- Basic knowledge of truck fleets and maintenance.
- Familiarity with route planning and logistics operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
