Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to join our dynamic team in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology and geospatial data science to support exploration, production, land, operations and environmental management activities. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret spatial data to support oil and gas exploration and production activities.
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring accuracy and integrity of spatial data.
  • Create detailed maps, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate GIS technology into project workflows.
  • Conduct spatial analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within data sets.
  • Manage and update GIS software, tools, and applications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide technical support and training to team members on GIS applications and data management.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to GIS data.
  • Ensure all structured data is correct and connected correctly within datalake and other data systems.
  • Manage ongoing structured data files for existing and new wells and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Geology or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS analysis with a focus on land use and resource exploitation OR focused education with a certification and outstanding project portfolio.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of spatial data management, cartography, and geospatial analysis techniques, including SQL and Python data queries.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with database management, including Data connectors and API’s.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or SQL for GIS applications.

Role Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to Subsurface Manager, interacts with other functions and contributes significantly to projects across the company.
