What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Department Supervisor position at REH Services, LLC?
This role involves supervising groundskeeping staff, scheduling maintenance tasks, managing landscaping projects, and coordinating the care of lawns, trees, gardens, and outdoor facilities. This position will work directly with the Base Operations Manager on staffing, training, and implementation of SOPs to promote success and safety. The supervisor ensures that all work meets safety and environmental standards while maintaining equipment and supplies within a budget.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of groundskeeping staff
- Plan and oversee landscaping, irrigation, and seasonal maintenance projects
- Ensure proper care of lawns, trees, shrubs, and other vegetation
- Mow, rake, water, fertilize lawn
- Apply Fertilizers, Herbicides, and Insecticides
- Maintain outdoor recreational areas, walkways, golf, and other landscape
- Monitor and manage use of tools, machinery, and groundskeeping equipment
- Implement safety and environmental regulations to maintain compliance
- Train staff in proper maintenance techniques and safety procedures
- Manage department budget, inventory, and procurement of supplies
- Respond to weather-related or emergency maintenance needs
- Maintain awareness of special events, groups, and other events outside of normal Grounds operations and assist other operations at resort as necessary (e.g. Parking, Transportation, Lodge Services, etc.)
What you’ll need to do the job:
- Must have experience successfully leading others
- Previous managerial experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping
- Knowledge of horticulture, irrigation systems, and groundskeeping equipment
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and repair
- Background in lawn and turf care
- Experience with flower and tree care
- Experience with operating ATV’s, OHV’s, and trucks in mountainous environments
- Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment (i.e. mowers (riding and push), aerators, verticutters, string line cutters, edgers, tillers, hand tools, trucks, ATV’s, tractors, front end loaders, forklifts, irrigation timers, pipe risers, pumps and valves)
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of using hand tools for multiple hours at a time
- Ability to work outdoors in various mountain weather conditions for long periods of time
