SUMMARY: The Clinical Dietician is responsible for the overall nutritional well being of the residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This summarizes the major essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position. Listed below are the duties in descending order of importance and are as clear and specific as possible. Other duties may be assigned. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Provides Dietitian services for assigned resident populations, including but not limited to:
- Nutritional Assessments
- Development of Care Plans
- Review and assessment of residents at nutritional risk, in a timely manner, with appropriate and professional documentation.
- Monitoring of residents weights, with documentation to address change and implementation of interventions as needed.
- Provision of nutrition education for residents, family members and care givers.
- Conducts QA of Nutritional process and Dining services quarterly, or as necessary.
- Provides Education to Nursing, Dining and Facility Staff as needed and assigned.
- Maintains open and effective communication with nursing, medical, therapy and other ancillary staff as needed, to successfully meet the needs of the residents.
- Participates in menu development and implementation of seasonal menu changes utilizing the Meal Tracker Dining Management system.
- Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments for implementation of nutritional care, therapeutic diets and menu requests.
- Ensures compliance with all state, federal and local regulations, as well as Shannondell policies and procedures (HIPPA/Privacy act, safety, operations, personnel).
- Stays current with the most recent nutrition related trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in, written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, etc.). Familiar with telephone equipment, copy machines, and other various office equipment.
