Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Dietary Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the dietary needs of patients in both acute care and long-term care settings. This position requires a strong understanding of nutrition, patient assessment, and dietary management to ensure optimal health outcomes for individuals under our care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Certified Dietary Managers (CDM) or Experienced Diet Techs are encouraged to apply!
· High School graduate or equivalent;
· Basic computer skills;
· Strong communication skills; Experience in a clinical and/or dietary setting is preferred but not required.

Job-Specific
6.1 Prepares and collects menus and assists patients in completing meal selections in accordance with food preferences and diet prescription. Makes corrections as necessary.
6.2 Participates in the assembly, delivery and retrieval of patient meals as required. Delivers off schedule trays as deemed necessary per operational standards.
6.3 Participates in the taste and temperature check of foods before service of food, as necessary.
6.4 Performs related dietary duties such as recording allergies and preferences, preparing nourishment lists/labels, etc.
6.5 Assures that nourishments and special feedings are correct and delivered to the floors; coordinates activities necessary to accomplish such.
6.6 Updates computer with diet information, patient preferences, nourishments, etc. in a complete and timely manner.
6.7 Responsible for various record keeping and clerical duties. Completes records accurately.
6.8 Understands and adheres to portion control standards, serving food neatly and according to hospital and nutrition standards.
6.9 Proactively performs duties in a timely manner, accurately and consistently.
6.10 Ensures that all supplies are assembled to complete tasks. Sets up and restocks patient service work stations with required supplies.
6.11 Follows standards of regulatory agencies (Indiana Department of Health; Joint Commission)
6.12 Cleans and sanitizes work areas, as designated, and equipment making sure that sanitizer is at the proper strength.
6.14 Communicates concerns and reports discrepencies directly to supervisor.
