What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Interventionist (Professional Clinician) position at Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc. (RSS)?
Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc. is seeking a FT Clinician for the Sullivan County Home Based Crisis Intervention Program. This program will serve children and youth (ages 6 up to 20.11 years of age) who are at risk for psychiatric hospitalizations. Interventionists will use Cognitive Behavioral interventions and other evidence-based supports to teach coping skills to the youth and the family. All services will be delivered in the home and community. Candidates must show understanding of the needs of youth with SED and can assess risk during crisis situations and respond quickly. Interventionists will work with the youth/family to create safety plans tailored to the needs of the youth and the family.
Interventionists will work with SPOA (Single Point of Access) who may refer to the program and when possible, Interventionist will participate in the discharge planning process with the hospital.
Interventionists work with the youth for a period of 4-6 weeks of intensive support. Interventionists will carry a caseload of 3-4 cases (this may vary depending on the acuity of the youth being served and or if the funding source makes shifts and requirements to the program).
Coordination of services for after-care support would be a priority for the youth family.
Each youth must have a minimum of 3 contacts each week. More can occur if/when necessary to keep the youth/family safe.
The HBCI program will provide 24/7 support to youth who are experiencing a crisis. Some contact may be needed during the evenings and some weekend hours if there is a crisis. On-call responsibilities required.
Qualifications for this Position:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Creative Arts Therapy is preferred;
Credentialed New York State Licensed Mental Health providers would be a plus;
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling with 5 years of experience will be considered.
Bi-lingual Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply.
Candidates must have the ability to work with a diverse population. Knowledge of trauma informed care service delivery and strong engagement and communication skills.
