Key Responsibilities
- Work with 3PL and carriers to ensure smooth execution
- Monitor carrier performance metrics (on-time delivery, damage rates, etc.).
- Resolve carrier issues and disputes.
- Exception management and auditing of freight invoices.
- Implement cost-saving strategies such as route optimization and load consolidation -working with the procurement team.
- Select/Ensure appropriate carriers and transportation modes (truck, rail, air) based on cost, speed, and delivery requirements.
- Partner with TMS provider to deliver freight procurement savings and avoidances.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation regulations (DOT, FMCSA, etc.)
- Manage documentation related to shipping and compliance
- Improve automation for documentation process
- Work with trade compliance to ensure all import and exports are processed appropriately and timely
- Facilitate the communication of status updates to customer service and planning teams
- Address customer concerns regarding delivery issues
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation efficiency and team’s performance
- Personnel training coaching and reviews
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of Experience managing North American ( US, Canada and Mexico) Logistics and Transportation team in a manufacturing environment. Must have strong knowledge of various modes of transportation including FTL, LTL, Air and Ocean to ensure carrier performance and contract management.
- International Logistics and Trade Compliance experience are a plus.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software
- Experience with SAP
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Analytical skills to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Must have supervisory experience and a willingness to step into to day to day to assist the team.
