What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at REI Utility Services LLC?
Overview
The Field Technician Employee (FTE) is responsible for gathering all necessary field data required for projects assigned to REI. FTEs are responsible for learning and knowing how to properly use all REI field data equipment. FTEs are responsible for gathering the appropriate data and delivering it to the appropriate Field Manager and/or Project Manager. FTEs are responsible for being able to identify all of REI’s client specific construction specifications and able to communicate that information via the proper medium to the appropriate management department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the Statement of Work is being followed
- Perform Quality Control work if/when needed
- Assist with job specific training, guidance, and direction
- Accountable for all REI equipment and keeping it maintained and in good working condition
- Accountable for collecting the required field data in accordance with the assigned scope of work
- Effectively communicate with property owners when necessary
- Making decisions on safely accessing locations and informing their Field Manager for any inaccessibility
- Safely measuring power poles, midspans, working around roadways with traffic
- Following and enforcing all REI safety requirements at all times
- Properly utilizing assigned project tools to include, but not limited to: RTK (Real Time Kinematics) equipment, Hot Stick (measuring and phasing hot stick), iPad, MiFi, vehicles
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic computer knowledge, proficient in relevant computer applications
- Basic knowledge of mathematics
- Knowledge on how to read a project schematic
- Skilled in utilizing a camera or mobile device and uploading documentation to a computer
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and safe driving record
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check, alcohol, and drug test
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl, and reach
- Must be able to work in various temperatures and inclement weather
- Ability to work a varied schedule and travel to different work sites
- Must be available to work weekends and overtime as needed, as well as on-call during non-business hours in areas that require on-call duty, including weekends and holidays
- Must be proficient in communicating with the public and team members. (Internal and External)nician and contribute to delivering exceptional telecommunications services!
