POSITION OVERVIEW
The Reid Group seeks an accomplished and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the operations, strategic growth, and financial performance of our diverse group of companies in American Samoa. The CEO will serve over four separate entities, referred to as the Reid Group, governed by one Board of Directors. The Reid Group companies consist of Peter E. Reid Stevedoring Inc., G.H.C. Reid & Company, Ltd., Samoa Motors Inc., and Samoa Leasing Co., Inc.
This position requires a leader with vision, operational expertise, and a collaborative spirit to drive efficiency and unity across our four companies, ensuring they meet the goals established by the Board.
REPORTING and COLLABORATION
The CEO reports to the Board of Directors.
The CEO supervises the General Managers and collaborates with the Human Resources Director and Group Chief Accountant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the CEO include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategic Oversight: Lead routine operations across four companies, aligning each company’s performance with Board-approved goals and strategies.Drive continuous improvement across four companies through utilization of problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.
Governance & Collaboration with the Board: Partner with the Board to shape the organization’s growth strategy, operating budgets, capital funding, risk assessment, and policy compliance, as well as in recruiting top senior management talent.
Financial Management: Oversee the Group’s financial health in partnership with the Reid Group Chief Accountant, presenting regular financial and operational reports to the Board and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. When necessary, the CEO is expected to implement remediation strategies to correct unsatisfactory performance and results.
Performance Evaluation: Regularly assess and enhance General Managers’ performance, providing guidance on corporate policies and areas where expertise and resources are essential.
Organizational Developmentand Growth: Work with the HR Director to shape a high-performance organizational structure that optimizes results across all companies.Support General Managers with the recruitment, hiring, and development of adequate workforce staffing in collaboration with the HR Director.
Relationship Building: Represent Reid Group to employees, customers, government entities, and the public, nurturing strategic relationships and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation.
Strategic Negotiation & Partnerships: Lead contract negotiations, joint ventures, and other strategic initiatives critical to the Reid Group’s success.
Compliance & Innovation: Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and standards, and drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and high morale.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS SOUGHT
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related degree, or equivalent experience in a senior leadership role.
Proven operational management experience, adept in driving efficiency, streamlining processes, and leading cross-functional teams toward achieving organizational goals.
Advanced knowledge of corporate finance, strategic planning, and business development.
Demonstrated awareness of governance and regulatory requirements, skilled at guiding an organization through compliance and risk mitigation.
Leadership and team-building skills, adept at building partnership and fostering pride and cohesion across multiple levels of the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Executive leadership experience in a multi-company, multi-site, or related environment.
Solid sales experience with a track record of growth, revenue generation, and market expansion.
Proven ability of collaboration with a Board of Directors.
Familiarity with Samoan culture and language, with an ability to connect and resonate with local communities.
Strong understanding of multi-cultural business environments, with a demonstrated sensitivity to cultural nuances in a diverse workforce.
COMPENSATION
The CEO compensation package includes salary, performance-based bonus, company-provided vehicle/gas, company-provided cell phone/plan, company-provided laptop, company 401k contribution,paidleave, and potential relocation package. The salary and performance-based bonus will commensurate with experience.
