Overview
Reid Temple Christian Academy is a Pre-K to 8th grade school located in Glenn Dale, Maryland and is accredited by the following governing bodies:
- The Association of Christian Schools International
- The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
- The Maryland State Department of Education (certified and licensed)
The Reid Temple Christian Academy (RTCA) Head of School serves as the lead educator and administrator of the institution. The Head of School’s primary roles and responsibilities are to provide organizational leadership; executive administration; faculty and staff development; implement and evaluate curriculum; and to provide clear and effective communication to the RTCA community. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience in the areas of grants and development.
The Head of School must have the vision to implement the RTCA mission while addressing the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth of each student.
Under the leadership of the Head of School, the Head of Early Childhood Education (PreK-1st grade) and the Head of Lower School/Head of Upper School will work collaboratively to ensure that RTCA operates in accordance with established policies and procedures that lead to an instructional program that results in high academic achievement for all students.
Skills and Abilities
- A committed Christian that maintains a relationship with God and fully agrees with and embraces the RTCA statement of faith.
- Demonstrated history of effectiveness in leadership of a Christian or Independent school
- Leadership experience at a school with a robust language program
- Several years of experience as a classroom teacher, ideally in a K-8th grade school setting
- Demonstrated acumen for mentoring and guiding the professional development of classroom teachers while cultivating positive relationships.
- Possesses the skills and abilities to build a high performing team and to effectively lead and mentor a dedicated, energetic faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
- Commitment to providing a holistic Christian education which ministers to the whole child - body, mind, and spirit.
- A Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field.
- 5 years of administrative experience in a Christian or independent educational setting including collaborative work with parents and teachers, including at least three years working in a lead, supervisory, or management role.
- At least 3 years of administrative experience in a district, local, state, or federal educational agency where oversight included more than one school or educational program, leadership experience includes affecting curricular change, including program development and implementation (preferred)
- 3 years of experience at a school with a language program (preferred).
- Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and achieving school improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with current and applicable learning technology.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office.

Salary
Initial salary placement will be based on years of relevant full-time equivalent experience. Please include all relevant full and part-time experience in your application that you want RTCA to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
