1st Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am - 4:30pm
Location: Luzianne Tea Manufacturing Plant at 5601 Chef Menteur Highway
Job Summary: Our HVAC Technician/Electrician performs routine installations, repairs and maintenance of all electrical systems throughout our manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with local and federal codes.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems
- Performs Preventive Maintenance and Documentation on HVAC systems & electrical components, including changing filters and cleaning coils
- Inspects and repairs electrical systems throughout the facility, eliminating electrical hazards that may pose safety issues to people and property
- Proactively researches and troubleshoots potential issues to building infrastructure and production equipment
- Maintains and repairs electronic components of production machinery to ensure efficiency and safe operation
- Relocates and installs outlets and data ports where needed
- Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
- Plans layout and installations of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures
- Updates drawings as needed
- Must be flexible with weekly work schedule to troubleshoot and fix issues as they arise in a timely manner to allow production to meet business demands
- Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training; Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person reporting any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition
- Supports and complies with GMPs
- Understands and follows emergency action plan
- Supports food safety, quality and legality
- Ensures the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- High school diploma, AA in Electrical Technology, or technical degree through a trade/vocational technology school
- 3 years of full-time experience and strong electrical field knowledge including conduit bending and wire installation, troubleshooting machine controls (frequency drives, motor starters, relay logic-PLC) and the ability to make repairs and upgrades
- Experience working in a manufacturing facility
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) experience strongly preferred
- Skilled in the use of all tools associated with the electricians trade
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management systems
- Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and schematics
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills
- Self-directed team player with ability to communicate effectively and complete projects in a timely manner
- Willingness and ability to assist with non-electrical projects as needed
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of rotating between 1st and 2nd shift as needed
