Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical office setting, particularly in ophthalmology, and possess strong interpersonal skills to ensure a positive patient experience. Your expertise will help facilitate efficient patient flow and assist in various clinical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary examinations, including taking patient histories and performing vision tests.
  • Assist the ophthalmologist during examinations and procedures.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to gather data for patient assessments.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide education to patients regarding their conditions and treatment options.
  • Manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinical area and equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical office environment is preferred, with specific experience in ophthalmology being a plus.
  • Familiarity with pediatric care is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in patient care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
  • Basic understanding of retail math for managing inventory or billing processes.
  • Proficient knowledge of physiology related to eye health is beneficial.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems such as Epic is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of medical billing processes is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.90 - $25.30 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
