OVERVIEW OF POSITION
Reinigen Lawns is expanding and we are seeking an experienced landscaping operations manager to join our growing team. The Landscape Operations Manager must have a passion for teaching and training to work with the Crew Foreman to direct and oversee the daily operations of the company. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of all field and administrative tasks required to support the efficient operations of all landscape design, irrigation and maintenance projects. The Operations Manager holds the authority and responsibility for hiring, training, and evaluating landscape foreman. This position’s highest priority is training landscape foreman to develop them into people who can train, manage, and control their crews effectively. This individual is ultimately responsible for driving successful production of the company. The candidate must be capable of apply chemicals, handling sprinkler service calls, estimating and overseeing landscape, masonry, and irrigation without any assistance. The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented professional who wants to play a key role on a winning team.

SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday and Occasional weekends when needed.
Please note if it is raining you will not be working and expected to work additional days in order to get the schedule back on track.
During the off season (December through February) Reinigen Lawns performs snow removal, masonry, and tree removal services and you will be scheduled when their is jobs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Financial Operations

Monitors Job Costs to ensure maximum profitability.

Drive maximum production efficiencies.(i.e. control all direct costs and expenses directly related to field work, as well as control unbillable labor to budget).

Meet with clients to understand the needs of their landscape, lawn maintenance, irrigation, or masonry project and create a detailed formal estimate that ensure maximum profitability

Generates purchase orders/requests for departmental needs as authorized by upper management.

Accurately completes all paperwork related to the position.

Field & Yard Operations

Responsible for scheduling and leading pre- and post-job meetings with crew foreman

Places high level of priority on spending time in the field with crews to evaluate crews, seek opportunities for continuous improvement, and create and maintain a consistent standard of work for Reinien Lawns crews.

Monitors the process of getting crews out the door in the morning and managing workloads and scheduling needs. Monitors all daily paperwork, and ensures that key, fleet, and fueling procedures are followed on a daily basis.

Responsible for supervising the daily opening and closing of the facility/yard.Effectively communicates with Project Managers, Foremen, sales staff and all other management staff.

Effectively communicate company activity with detailed reports to upper management.

Design and create landscape designs and renderings for landscape design projects.

Ensure all chemical applications are completed on time and properly documented in accordance to NYDEC regulations.

  • Oversee and assist with sprinkler service calls and installs.
  • Meet with clients to address concerns and provide quotes.
  • Ensure all seasonal equipment is prepared and operational. (i.e. spring cleanup equipment, snow removal equipment.)
  • Ensure damaged equipment is documented and repaired in a timely manner.

People Operations

  • Working with upper management, has authority in hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating crew personnel.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a continuous training program to drive crew efficiencies.
  • Trains Foremen and crew members to maintain and promote effective business practices in running their jobs by structuring scheduled meetings and training sessions for Foremen.
  • Implement safety training and maintain safe workplace practices.
  • Lead by example in all tasks, always showing Reinigen Lawns’ “Passion for Detail” and setting high expectations for new and existing crew members.
  • Committed to continuous improvement through being open-minded to implementing creative and innovative industry best practices and improvement initiatives
  • Adheres to and administers company policies and procedures and promotes company core values.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required.

TRAINING/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
1. An understanding of landscape terminology and plant materials

2. DEC 3A Tech License Required (Applicator level is a plus)

3. 5 years minimum experience in the landscaping industry

4. 5 years minimum experience in the irrigation industry

5. 2 years minimum experience in landscape design

6. 2 years minimum experience in masonry design

7. Ability to fluently speak, read and write English. (Bilingual in Spanish is a plus)

8. A valid NYS Drivers License (CDL not required but a plus)

9. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

10. Excellent verbal and written skills in order to communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels of company staff.

11. Strong knowledge of landscaping maintenance and equipment.

12. Ability to learn quickly and apply concepts to different related areas of work.

13. Ability to recognize and analyze problems, and develop solutions.

14. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and willingness to assist where necessary to meet goals of the company.

Excellent stamina is required. The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
