The Engineering Design Detailer will prepare engineering component and assembly drawings, and field installation drawings to support the Engineering, Technical Support, QA, and Production teams. The detailer will also write specifications, compile and complete documentation packages and drawing sets, and examine drawings for conformity, consistency, and errors.
This position requires comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in the preparation of drawings and designs, in the use of 3D modeling and computer-aided drafting software (AutoCad and / or Pro Engineer preferred), the application of basic mathematics and production methods and materials used in the design and manufacture of complex electro-mechanical products.
Analytical effort, initiative, ingenuity, attention to detail and good judgment are necessary in performing varied drafting and / or design assignments and computations. Candidates must possess a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and good communications skills – both verbal and written. Proficiency in office software - spreadsheets and word processing - is essential.
Key requirements for this position are neatness, legibility and accuracy. Therefore, substantial care and attention are inherent to the job as any errors may result in significant additional costs.
The Engineering Design Detailer Shall Possess
- At least a two-year CAD technology degree or diploma, or a substantially similar qualification.
- Experience in electrical and mechanical computerized drafting / modeling and design.
- Proven experience using Pro-E and / or AutoCAD for electro-mechanical assemblies and products.
- Working knowledge of all applicable drawing codes & standards.
