Description
The Maintenance Manager performs a variety of functions in the evaluation, maintenance, development and/or improvement of tooling and fixturing; custom machinery; equipment, production methods and processes for the manufacture of company products. Manages all aspects of maintenance, preventive maintenance and maintenance fabrication. Provides maintenance and preventative maintenance services to ensure uninterrupted workflow in production. Plans and sets up work schedules. Recommends equipment and procedures for improving maintenance and reducing costs.
Manages the activities of all Maintenance and Maintenance Fabrication personnel. Work involves functions such as machinery/equipment trouble shooting and repair; machining and fabricating parts for repair of machines and equipment, welding, brazing, soldering, sheet metal work, electrical work, and hydraulics/plumbing.
Participates in the development and maintenance of jigs, fixtures, gauges, templates, dies and custom machinery including the conceptualization, design, build and repair.
Manages all types of repair and maintenance work including setting up and repair of machines, equipment and accessories. Arranges for the machining and fabricating of repair parts. Direct the installation of new machines and equipment and relocation of existing machines and equipment.
Assists in the planning, development and implementation of programs and procedures for preventive maintenance.
Supports subordinates, maintains discipline and enforces safety and good housekeeping practices. Recommends hiring, dismissals, transfers and upgrading of personnel. Establishes good personnel relations and ensures continuous maintenance of high morale, efficiency and harmonious operations. Ensures adherence to the Company rules and regulations.
Manages projects and works from blueprints and/or sketches of work to be done. Estimates labor costs and materials required while coordinating the projects to ensure that assigned tasks are performed according to established approved schedules.
Manages the Maintenance Fabrication group to ensure that all fixtures and tools are properly maintained and ready for production in a timely manner.
Manages departmental hours and overtime within established company guidelines. Assumes responsibility for departmental efficiencies, timeliness of repairs/installations, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.
Works closely with factory management, engineering, and others on maintenance problems and make recommendations for improving machines, equipment, accessories, instruments, processes, safety and housekeeping. As necessary, obtains quotations and negotiates for outside contract work.
Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Required knowledge of all phases of plant and equipment maintenance involving production machines and equipment; electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, blower, exhaust, plumbing, power supply systems, and air compressors. Knowledge of basic principles of supervision and leadership, planning and scheduling of work assignments, and the handling of personnel problems, is essential.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Trade/technical school or college level studies preferred. Ten or more years of experience in equipment maintenance supervision as well as good verbal and written communication skills are required.
