General Purpose of Position
The purpose of the Tire Mounter position is to properly and safely install both irrigation and trailer tires onto tire rims. These tasks are achieved with the use of tire mounting tools; pneumatic and electric tire mounting machines and a high pressure air blast ring. Also, the Tire Mounter will participate in grinding wheel rims to prepare them for mounting.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to read and comprehend the tire mounting and tire inflation standard operating procedure.
- Must be able to learn and demonstrate the proper requirements and techniques of mounting and inflating tires before working independently.
- Must be able to demonstrate the proper securement and use of the blast ring, inflation cage and other tire mounting equipment.
- Must be able to run a forklift and secure a forklift license if required.
- Must be familiar and cognizant of safety guidelines throughout the company.
- Must maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
- Must be able to read and interpret gauges; meters; product specifications and other standard operating procedures.
- Must be able to use and understand various specialized equipment unique to the job.
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, as they will interact with other departments, professional staff and management of the company.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision and show/demonstrate initiative, tact, good judgement and sound reasoning.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position.
- Will perform other related duties as directed by supervision.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment Used
Will be using a forklift on occasion. Requires the use of safety glasses with side shields, steel toed safety shoes; hard hats; and hearing protection. Will use tire mounting tools; pneumatic and electric tire mounting machines; a high pressure air blast ring; and electric grinders.
