Independently designs, develops, tests, implements, documents, and supports big data/ data lake systems, including big data cataloging, modeling, ingestion, streaming, processing, and storage technologies and processes. Applies a general understanding of the source systems, and leverages general knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence technologies, as well as processes, to execute responsibilities.

$87,050.00 - $131,450.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. A Brief Overview
Independently designs, develops, tests, implements, documents, and supports big data/ data lake systems, including big data cataloging, modeling, ingestion, streaming, processing, and storage technologies and processes. Applies a general understanding of the source systems, and leverages general knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence technologies, as well as processes, to execute responsibilities.
What You Will Do
- Creates and supports the process to pull the information from source systems and place it into the data lake
- Performs big data design and testing, including data design, big data architecture, catalog, and repository creation
- Designs, develops, and maintains the big data technologies and architectures
- Works with business and IT stakeholders to optimize information by defining business requirements and populating the data lake
- Creates big data schematics and layouts; assists with developing capacity planning
- Recommends improvements and applies standards, processes, and procedures for big data systems
- Seeks continuous big data performance improvement and ensures security of information
- Creates and implements effective metrics and monitoring processes
- May lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements
- Acts as a resource and impacts the quality of work for colleagues with less experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent education/ experience required
- Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) preferred
- 4 Years big data or relevant experience required
- 4 Years experience with cataloging, modeling, ingestion, processing, and streaming technologies and processes. Continuous Integration Tools (eg, CruiseControl, Continuum, Travis) required
- 1 Years Data Analysis experience required
- Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information required
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or difficult information in straightforward manner. Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus required
- JavaScript technologies (eg, jQuery, Angular, React and Nodejs) required
- HTTP, SSL/TLS, REST, SQL, JSON, and Excel required
- AIX/Linux, Websphere, Weblogic, Tomcat, JBOSS required
- MySQL, Oracle, SOLR, NoSQL, Postgres, Mongo DB and Hive required
- Test Driven Development processes and tooling (eg, JUnit, Mocha, Jasmine, Protractor) required
- DevOps-style deployment tools (eg, Docker, Ansible, Vagrant) required
- Experience with business intelligence and/ or data warehouse technologies and processes preferred
