Under limited supervision, analyzes, compiles and coordinates monthly/quarterly financial data and results based on a US GAAP and Statutory basis, prepares financial reports, prepares and processes general expense entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. Ensures accurate, reliable and timely financial and management reporting.
- Completes expense variance analysis for assigned cost centers and maintains variance tracking. Identifies, analyzes, and researches variances with an understanding of the G/L to narrow down reasons for the variances. Provides recommendations based on analysis completed.
- Develops and/or analyzes management reports to illustrate trends in various financial values, such as profitability analysis and trends in financial data relevant to the transactions.
- Coordinates the preparation and distribution of key analytical reports.
- Coordinates the expense budget process ensuring timely submission of information and deadlines are met and conducts annual budget training for cost center managers and administrative associates to review the budgeting procedures and to inform them on any budget changes.
- Works with other functional areas in RGA to achieve efficient and effective accounting and reporting practices and procedures and responds to and requests from other functional areas on various inquires.
- Coordinates and completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent related work experience
- 5-8 years accounting or auditing experience
- Master’s Degree, CPA
- Progress towards FLMI
- Progress towards CFA or SOA
- PeopleSoft or other accounting software applications experience
- Insurance/Reinsurance financial reporting experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic Word, intermediate Excel, Access and SQL/Query skills
- Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and financial reporting
- Advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
- Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
