Production Supervisor
Position Summary :
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations on the production floor and acting as a liaison between the Production and Operations team. The Production Supervisor must be adept at balancing quality and productivity while maintaining a positive attitude and modeling RPI's values. They are also accountable for ensuring that established procedures are being followed and the performance of their area meets expectations.
Core Responsibilities :
Effective communication across different levels of the organization
Ensures production targets are met :
Manages Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Manages the reprint rate
Oversees labor management
Provides training as needed
Ensures that maintenance and quality procedures are followed
Provides regular reporting of results and status
Balances staff to necessary cells so that all employees are equally busy
Provides a safe workplace and escalates unsafe conditions
Works productively with other shifts and departments
Coaches and mentors production leads and holds them accountable; provides both positive and corrective feedback to employees
Establishes fair and equal accountability for all employees regarding attendance, expectations, process and policy
Speaks tactfully and gives clear expectations and direction to the team
Always maintains a professional attitude with the team
Assesses performance daily and conducts performance reviews
Informs management of production issues and workflow improvement suggestions
Flexible and able at to adjust working hours as needed (potentially including the need to work additional hours on short notice)
Verifies timecards ensuring PTO and absences are recorded and hours are accurate
Other duties as required
Requirements :
Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role in a light manufacturing environment
High School Diploma or GED
Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook for email communication
Prior print bindery experience is a plus
Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Work in a moderately loud environment
Ability to twist, turn, bend several times per shift
Sharp vision requirements for color details

Have strong self-management skills and the ability to make independent decisions
Act in a professional manner at all times
Prioritize work activities and focus on quality
Train and cross-train all RPI employees in different departments, functions and on machines
Alert management of any deviations from plans and offer recommendations for resolution
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and set up following shift for success
Support management directives and strive to improve results
Ensure that procedures are changed through a visible process of discussion and improvement
Communicate tactfully and professionally when addressing difficult subjects with employees (i.e. pace, training, quality concerns, attendance and policies, etc.)
Lead by example and exhibit positive leadership.
