What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2024-25 Assistant Boys Soccer Coach position at Rejoice Christian School?
The Coach is to instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of Christian moral values, sense of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-control to the praise and glory of God.

Required Professional Qualities
- Complete 3 required NFHS courses annually (Heat Illness, Concussion in Sports, Sudden Cardiac Arrest).
- Have received or will soon receive acceptable training to meet state athletic association minimum standards for coachs certification.
- Have had successful experience as a teacher in physical education and/or in interscholastic athletics as a coach or a participant.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and employees may be required to undergo drug or alcohol testing.

Essential Functions:
Administrative Leadership
- Seek to accomplish the goals and objectives assigned by school administration and school policy.
- Help staff, students, and volunteers to function efficiently, effectively, and productively.

- Respect professional ethics that require confidentiality concerning the sharing of information about children, parents, or staff.
- Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each students progress.

- Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations in the gym and outdoor facilities. Conduct required emergency safety drills in coordination with school leadership.

Coaching Leadership
- Lead student athletes on and off the court or field in a specific sport, increasing their knowledge of the sport and emphasizing good sportsmanship.
- Have specific, attainable goals for the team.
- Establish and supervise team tryout selection procedures. Develop team rosters.
- Ensure completion of health exam forms by all athletes.
- Thoroughly review all eligibility forms, issues, and questions before athletes are cleared to play in interscholastic contests.
- Develop and enforce consequences for students, and volunteers who do not abide by established standards.
- Review and make suggestions for changes in the Athletic Handbook to the school administration.
- Develop an emergency response plan for injured players and potential medical emergencies that may be experienced by staff, students, parents, or fans.
- Interact with family physicians, parents, and athletic trainers following an injury to an athlete. Ensure the athlete is cleared by doctor to return to sports following serious injuries.
- Coordinate the athletic presentations for the various awards assemblies and programs.
- Assist visiting teams when requests for accommodations and/or services are needed. Serve as the host to visiting teams. Act as liaison, informing visiting teams and officials of the pertinent details of their participation, such as time schedule, dressing facilities, etc.
- Secure officials for each sports home event while making sure the appropriate officials association is contacted and the final schedules are sent to them in a timely fashion.
- Contact officials associations whenever games are canceled or rescheduled.
- Schedule all contest and practice venues in advance. Make sure gyms, fields, and spectator areas are properly set-up before visiting teams arrive.
- Supervise sports program management. Secure and coordinate school volunteers with duties such as: prayer/anthem, announcer, timer, concession workers, scorekeeper, scoreboard operators, ticket sellers and takers, along with chain gangs and other necessary game personnel, in advance of game days.
- Oversee the inventory of all equipment and uniforms for coached sport. Provide for the care and security of all sports equipment.
- Account for all equipment and uniforms that were checked out. Notify the school office if players have missing or damaged uniforms or equipment beyond normal wear and tear.
Additional Duties or Responsibilities
- Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the schools constituency and the general public.
- Involve parents in prayer and volunteerism, as appropriate.
