Job Summary: The Master Painter is responsible for overseeing painting projects from preparation to completion, overseeing a team of painters, ensuring quality standards are met, and coordinating with clients and other departments. The Master Painter is committed to delivering high-quality results and possesses a background in painting techniques and excellent leadership abilities. The Master Painter also adheres to safety standards and uses appropriate personal protective equipment to ensure a secure working environment. This position requires face-to-face client interaction where customer service is a core responsibility. This position oversees painting projects, manages a team of painters, and ensures the highest quality of work.


Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for all aspects of painting projects from start to finish, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, and inventory of all painting and finishing materials.

  • Responsible for creating and managing schedules for the painting team to ensure efficient workflow.

  • Prepare estimates for painting projects based on client requirements and site conditions.

  • Create and manage work orders, maintain accurate project records, and ensure compliance with company policies.

  • Works alongside the Client Relationship Managers to coordinate billing for all projects and maintenance for clients.

  • Responsible for training the paint and finishes staff on the safe use of Company equipment.

  • Must work with the department budget.

  • Responsible for quality control of all painting and finishing projects.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate plans to the paint and finishes team.

  • Strong customer service relationship-building skills.

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn company software including Slack and Google Calendars/Docs/Sheets.


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Additional trade school education would be appreciated.


Experience:

  • 3-5 years of high-end residential painting experience and project management experience, required.

  • 2-3 years of exterior painting experience, required

  • 1-2 years of spraying experience is required.

  • Specialty paint and finish techniques are preferred.

  • Cabinetry and woodworking experience, preferred.

  • Color matching knowledge is required.


Licenses & Certificates:

  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred.

  • Lead RRP certification is preferred.

  • Additional painting or construction-related certifications are preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

  • Ability to work at heights of 60 feet.

  • May be asked to lift 80lbs as needed and able.

  • Exposed to seasonal temperatures and inclement weather.

  • Sanding and kneeling for extended periods.

  • Performing repetitive motions (e.g., sanding).
