REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Drafting Supervisor
Supervise: N/A
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The primary function of this position is to provide the modeling, detailing, and information link between these departments: engineering, estimating, automation, manufacturing, and construction.
AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY
- Authority to design and/or specify any products or components that are not detailed by the Process/Project Engineer, to meet project specifications.
- Authority to select stock items and standard manufactured items to be used that are not specified by the Process/Project Engineer.
- Authority to research and provide alternatives to the Process/Project Engineer for non-stock items.
- Authority to consult with vendors, automation, manufacturing, and construction personnel as necessary to establish details and designs according to project specifications and according to company policy.

Design
- Design and prepare plans using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software.
- Work through rough sketches & specifications from engineers.
- Prepare design drawings specifications suitable for use in estimating, construction, and communication to third parties outside of the company.
- Prepare Bill of Materials according to company standards.
- Specify dimensions, material & procedures for new projects or products.
- Quality of designs prepared for other departments or third parties outside of the company.
- Timeliness of completing designs for projects.
Drawings
- Produce drawings & other written communications concerning projects that are accurate & delivered in a timely manner.
- Perform sheet metal flat pattern layouts as required & per company policy.
- Include all items on drawings suitable for use in manufacturing, construction & in communication with parties outside the company.
- Produce effective products by using understanding of engineering & manufacturing products.
- Assemble informational/drawing packets & submit them to appropriate departments or areas.
- Handle & file applicable job information & drawings per company policy.
- Quality of drawings prepared for other departments or third parties outside of the company.
- Quality of informational/drawing packets assembled.
- Timeliness of submitting packets to appropriate departments or areas.
Collaboration
- Successfully communicate all applicable information & specifications the products drawn to other departments.
- Level of cooperation & teamwork.
Owner’s Manual
- Produce Owner’s Manuals on projects per company policy.
- Quality of Owner’s Manuals
Other Duties
- Handle and file pertinent job information & drawings according to company policy.
- Other projects as assigned by supervisor
- Level of effort to complete other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Education: Two-year Associates/Technical degree or relevant work experience
- Experience : 8 years of experience working in similar working capacity
- Knowledge: Autodesk Inventor experience preferred but not required.
