Requirements Of The Civil Engineering Department Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; licensure in North Carolina and South Carolina is preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience in engineering design and project management.
- Proven track record in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting, with the ability to handle tight deadlines and manage shifting project priorities and multiple clients.
- Extensive expertise in land development, including site planning, grading design, and preparation of construction documents.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with other department managers, engineers, surveyors, and planners.
- Experience in mentoring project managers and engineering/design staff.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and design software is preferred; the role requires familiarity with the software but does not involve performing AutoCAD design tasks.
- Strong skills in business development and financial management.
- Experience with codes, standards, and technical specifications from authorities having jurisdiction.
- Proficient in developing and designing construction details.
- Background in implementing a structured QA/QC program.
- Collaborative with experience in presenting to boards, commissions, or councils is a plus.
- Must pass a drug screening, background check, and meet the company's driving record (MVR) standards.
- 100% in-office role.
