Job Summary
The Center Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the center, ensuring a high standard of education and administration. This leadership role requires strategic planning and effective management to foster an environment that promotes educational excellence. The Center Director will work closely with staff, students, and the community to achieve the center's goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- BA in Human Development, Human Services, Early Childhood, or related field preferred.
- Minimum AA degree in Human Services, Early Childhood Education; or related field preferred; minimum of two years or experience in above areas.
- Prefer experience in implementation of Head Start Performance Standards and services.
- One (1) year successful experience in management or supervisory capacity preferred.
- Experience in family focused service delivery
- Experience with staff coordination and leadership.
Duties
- Develop professional and center systems to ensure effective and efficient center operations.
- Apply principles of early childhood development & team leadership to work place situations & processes.
- Facilitate short term & long range planning & organization for center operations.
- Submit monthly reports on center & direct service activities as required.
- Coordinate, in partnership with Management and Center Staff; Presentations by community members targeted at interest/needs of families; Prepare and present materials and facilitate regular parent training, small group activities and Family Night/Family Activities; ongoing formal and informal training in the areas of parenting, child development, and family development.
- Supervise/monitor day-to-day center operations and staff implementation of program systems and services.
- Monitor, mentor, and/or coach site staff in partnership with Managers and/or Director for staff professional development plans. Provide evidence of staff implementation of Professional Development and Action Plans.
- Monitor child records, including observations, behavioral records, attendance and other required reports and progress notes. Ensure all required child screens are completed and up to date per Performance Standards and program guidelines.
- Monitor Attendance/Meal Counts for accuracy, and staff have entered weekly attendance into required data system(s) for analysis.
- Arrange for and/or conduct center safety including outdoor space inspections and complete safety checklists per program guidelines.
- Ensure program staff and volunteers understand and fully implement program safety and health policies and procedures.
- Facilitate center staff meetings.
- Advocate for opportunities for low-income and minority families in the community.
- Participate in Special Services team meetings, as requested by the Education & Operations manager and/or Designee.
- Generate and document donation of goods and services from families and community to meet non-federal share requirements.
