Description
Reliable Fire & Security is growing and is looking to hire multiple apprentices to join and grow our team. This position is responsible for assisting our senior sprinkler technicians in inspection, testing, and maintenance checks of sprinkler systems. Identifying system deficiencies and preparing accurate and timely inspection reports. Apprentices will have a clear understanding of sprinkler systems and will be given adequate training and adequate training to obtain a NICET certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Test and inspect sprinkler systems.
- Perform inspections to ensure sprinklers are installed and functioning according to code.
- Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues.
- Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Protect and maintain company equipment.
- Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures including driver safety and personal protective equipment.
- Interact with customers in a mature and professional manner.
- Respond to emergency service calls.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Self-study of various NFPA codes and standards.
Qualifications
Education/Qualifications:
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the office/job site.
- Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evenings working past 5 P.M. or weekend scheduling as needed.
- Requires the ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs.
- Requires the ability to interpret, apply and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
- Requires the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Requires the ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment, and machinery.
Other Duties:

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and /or move heavy objects.
- The work also requires the following physical abilities to perform essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
