Position Overview
- Location: Easily accessible by bus (exact address to be provided upon interview)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Client: Adult with Multiple Sclerosis, requiring specialized mobility support and daily social engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Hoyer Lift & Mobility Assistance
- Safely operate a Hoyer lift for transfers to and from bed, wheelchair, or any other seating.
- Monitor and assist with safe positioning to enhance comfort and prevent strain or injury.
- Basic Physical Therapy & Circulation Exercises
- Assist with simple, therapist-prescribed routines such as moving the client’s leg up and down to encourage blood flow and maintain muscle flexibility.
- Track and document exercise performance or any challenges for the care coordinator or physical therapist.
- Daily Living Activities & Personal Care
- Help with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting as needed.
- Prepare light meals, snacks, or beverages according to dietary preferences.
- Socialization & Companionship
- Engage the client in meaningful conversation and activities that stimulate mental and emotional well-being.
- Encourage light recreation or hobbies that the client enjoys, promoting a positive, interactive environment.
- Housekeeping & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized living area (e.g., light tidying, laundry, dishwashing).
- Follow any safety guidelines, reporting concerns or equipment issues promptly.
- Monitoring & Documentation
- Observe and record any changes in the client’s condition, from mobility challenges to mood fluctuations.
- Communicate updates or concerns to your supervisor or healthcare team members as appropriate.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Hoyer Lift Expertise: Confident operating and maneuvering a Hoyer lift for safe client transfers.
- Experience with MS or Complex Mobility Needs: Familiarity with the unique challenges of Multiple Sclerosis and adaptive techniques for daily activities.
- Respectful & Compassionate: Exhibits empathy and patience, ensuring the client feels understood and supported.
- Dependable & Punctual: Committed to arriving on time for a daily, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. schedule.
- Effective Communicator: Comfortable providing clear feedback to supervisors, documenting care tasks, and engaging in friendly, meaningful conversation with the client.
