About the Position:
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the planning, scheduling, procurement and expediting, of parts, to meet customer order requirements. Utilize the best procurement practices, including managing the supplier to ensure optimal pricing, while meeting the department's goals for cost reduction, quality, on-time delivery, inventory management and lead time reduction.
Task and Duties:
- Use Avercast forecasting module alongside the AS400 for all procurement creation.
- Purchasing Buyer Planner is responsible for managing select suppliers along with the responsibility of the Purchasing Assistant functions.
- Complete ownership of the procurement process to include demand planning, creating requisitions, validating forecasts, ensuring on-time delivery, and including, but not limited to, forecasting, ordering, expediting, and returns.
- Plans parts product needs for distribution centers and multiple facilities.
- Responsible for the full planning and buying for assigned commodities and or suppliers to achieve maximum supplier performance. Utilize ERP and planning tools, analyze inventory, order patterns and sales data to provide input for strategic purchasing decisions.
- Monitors and communicates supplier performance for delivery, quality, cost management and other measurements as defined. Work with company locations to ensure that product requirements are being met.
- Works closely with Suppliers to monitor and correct all supplier non-conformance issues.
- Works with Sales to confirm customer promised delivery dates and that products are available as promised. Track and maintain on-time delivery to customer.
- Works closely with shipping to ensure plan is met.
- Focuses on timely, best in class, delivery at the most economical cost while maintaining a steady flow of materials without shortages utilizing the ERP system and other necessary information.
- Conduct inventory analysis for assigned product categories and manage them to meet established business goals.
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years in a supply chain analyst, demand planning or materials planning role
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in purchasing.
- Minimum 3 years of ERP/MRP software experience
- APICS Certification desired, Category management in Wholesale, Retail, Manufacturing, or Consumer Packaged Goods (Preferred)
- Must be able to work independently and effectively, as well as coordinate multiple tasks with changing priorities/interruptions
- Demonstrated business acumen
- Possess strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Excellent communication skills throughout all levels of the organization.
- Detail oriented with very good organizational skills.
- Computerized planning systems, Spend Management System, Microsoft office products with emphasis on Excel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, teamwork environment with tight deadlines.
