Job Description
Summary The Field Service/Truck Shop Technician. Field service/truck shop technician performs on-site service and repair of customer vehicle, both in the field and at a RTS facility.
Not Allison certified, no worries, RTS has your back with online training modules available and certified instructor led training paths to get you the additional skill set to become an Allison Certified Technician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Follows all policies and procedures
- Receive schedule of daily assignments from supervisor
- Drive company vehicle to customer site to perform repairs
- Meet with customer to discuss the vehicle’s problems or symptoms
- Diagnose using Ohm/volt meters, break out harnesses and Allison DOC ECT.
- Notify supervisor and customer of vehicle and transmission repairs needed
- Repair and/or replace vehicle wiring and other components as needed to repair vehicle
- In chassis transmission repairs as needed
- Remove and replace transmissions as needed
- Maintain parts inventory on company assigned vehicle
- Maintains company vehicle to company standards and provisions
- Recommend to customer additional repairs needed while working on vehicle
- Read and use all technical information available
- Follow diagnostic charts
- Perform chassis driveline inspections and complete driveline runout checks
- Maintain current and up to date knowledge level through the use of SIL’s, E-learn, manuals, etc. desired (provided)
- Must own American made tools to perform all jobs necessary to all jobs assigned
- Use of Allison literature and special tools (provided)
- Organized record keeping or some filing may be required
- Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), desired; and one to three years of truck, or heavy equipment experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General mechanical ability
- Use of laptop, windows operating knowledge
- Ability to diagnose and repair 12-24 voltage electrical systems and modules
- DOC software knowledge. (DOC training available)
- CDL class B with P endorsement preferred but not required at hire
Language Skills
- Good reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Strong comprehension skills
