Summary The Staff Accountant’s II is a accounting professional with a mid-level experience, responsible for performing complex accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting, often specializing in a specific area like accounts payable or fixed assets, while demonstrating a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and requiring less supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed
- Analyze, research, and reconcile ledger activities
- Prepare and maintain financial records and reports
- Create and maintain programming to automate account transactions
- Develop and maintain cost allocation plans
- Review and streamline accounting procedures
- Maintain records and accounts to comply with grant procedures
- Prepare and maintain control accounting records
- Maintain adequate records of expenditures, funds, and expenses as well as revenue collected and deposited
- Organized record keeping or some filing may be required
- Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year College or university; or five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of financial software tools, and fixed assets. Previous AP/AR experience. Strong knowledge of Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Pivot Tables, and Word.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
- Communicate well with all levels of personnel including but not limited to employees, management, and officers.
