The Payroll Associate III will be responsible for administering pay, maintaining payroll records, and compiling related payroll reports. Along with the establishment, maintenance, review, and disposition of time and leave records for employees. This position requires a substantial knowledge of multi-state pay rules, regulations, procedures, programs, and system requirements. Under the direct supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Associate III is responsible for the accurate and timely processing for multiple subsidiaries within the “Family of Companies” at Reliance. The Payroll Associate III will process weekly, bi-weekly, and off cycle payrolls. Processing includes updating data, time and labor, commissions, bonuses, and off-cycle manual checks. They will help guide the payroll group by assisting with process documentation, answering questions from the team, auditing payrolls and various other assigned projects.

As a senior payroll subject matter expert, you are responsible for independently completing a broad range of payroll tasks and/or planning and leading tasks for other members of the payroll team.- Processes weekly, bi-weekly and/or off-cycle payrolls for multiple subsidiaries.
- Updates payroll data and processes time and labor, commissions, incentives, bonuses, onsite checks, and any other earnings as requested.
- Processes and records adjustments to pay related to payroll elections, benefits, or retroactive increases.
- Organizes and prioritizes daily workload to assure tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitors case management for employees and managers payroll inquiries regularly to ensure service level agreements and high subsidiary satisfaction are met.
- Manages the timely resolution of subsidiary issues including handling escalations, perform and document root cause analysis and implement remedial procedures to close gaps identified.
- Assists with analyzing reports as necessary for use by the subsidiaries and colleagues.
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and provides coverage/assists other Payroll staff as needed.
- Works on special projects as assigned by management.
- Creates and maintains required payroll Standard Operating Procedures and/or other documentation.
- Provides training, information and assistance to newly implemented payroll processors relating to policies/procedures as well as payroll processing.
- Assists with preparing documentation for payroll inquiries, audits, or other reviews, as needed.

Required Skills:
- 7-10 years of relevant payroll experience required.
- High School diploma/GED required, Associates degree or higher (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- American Payroll Association FPC or CPP designation preferred.
- 7 years full service multi-state payroll experience is strongly preferred, Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.
- Experience in a shared service center environment preferred.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state and local tax withholding requirements and garnishment procedures required.
- Experience with multi-state payroll preferred.
- Union payroll knowledge strongly desired.
- Bi-lingual desired but not required.
- Strong arithmetic, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment required.
- Ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive/confidential pay information required.
- Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills required.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
- Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers as well as internal/external customers required.
- Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
