Job Responsibilities and Requirements
The Investment Analyst II will provide critical analytical and processing support for the general operations of the Investment Services department. Key tasks include performing functions related to credit ratings, investment data quality management, creating and maintaining reports as directed, and using critical thinking skills to analyze large data sets to draw conclusions and /or propose solutions to issues as they arise. The Investment Analyst II will also work closely with external vendors to obtain information for reporting and analysis of investment-related information.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyze, and report credit ratings issued by NAIC
- Engage with multiple rating agencies obtain credit ratings for private placement investments
- Serve as liaison with external investment managers to ensure private assets are rated in a timely manner
- Submit private assets to the CUSIP Bureau to obtain private placement numbers
- Develop automated controls using investment accounting systems and other database / analytics platforms
- Reconcile loan positions to asset managers and / or loan portfolio software to ensure accounting records reflect correct investments
- Participate in regularly scheduled calls with third-party vendors and investment managers to discuss topical matters related to loan portfolio
- Design data quality controls using various systems to ensure that loan data is reported correctly for mortgage loan portfolio
- Review past due receivables in loan portfolio and work with external investment managers to assess collectability
- Leverage invoice processing system to process invoices related to responsibilities
- Evaluate portfolios for compliance with guidelines outlined in Investment Management Agreements
- Build forecast of investment portfolio to estimate pro forma financials
- Assist in the production of relevant statutory, GAAP, and board of directors schedules
- Participates in team engagement functions
- Independently handles tasks of moderate complexity
- Identifies and solves a range of problems in straightforward situations
- Analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard approach
- Uses judgment to escalate tasks to management when necessary
- Collaborates with internal and external parties on a regular basis
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business-related field
- 3 years relevant experience
- Substantial knowledge about fixed income instruments and concepts
- Knowledge about general portfolio management
- Strong Excel skills around advanced functions including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, pivot tables, arrays, and data aggregation techniques
- Experience working with investment systems including custodial, loan processing, investment accounting, and portfolio management systems
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information in a concise and understandable manner
- Ability to work under pressure and to provide detailed results in such situations
- Ability to be thorough, following assignments through to completion
- Ability to act independently with confidence in drawing conclusions and making time-sensitive and difficult decisions where applicable
Ability to Travel: Up to 10%
The expected hiring range for this position is $69,890.00 - $93,300.00 annually for work performed in the primary location (Philadelphia, PA). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
