What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Cashier position at Reliance State Bank?
Major Function:
Direct and supervise day-to-day operation activities of the personal banker and teller staff while frequently being an active participant in these roles. Assist Cashier in the daily management of the bank's operations.
Qualified candidates may have an opportunity for advancement with this position as a part of the bank's long-term succession planning process.
Essential Duties:
- Coaches, counsels, and provides general direction and guidance to personal banking staff
- Assists in the selection of new employees, salary increases, promotions, performance improvement, and disciplinary action.
- Write and discuss employee performance appraisals and provide training as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations relating to all products offered by the Bank to retail customers.
- Maintains a high level of product knowledge and demonstrate that knowledge by proactively meeting customer's needs by personal selling techniques.
- Assists with training of new personal bankers and offers ongoing guidance about opening more involved products, such as HSAs, CDs, and business accounts.
- Answers questions or resolve complex problems on customer accounts.
- Creates an environment where staff is motivated to perform at their best.
- Promotes bank products and services by identifying and communicating opportunities to customers.
- Provides a high level of quality customer service to our existing customer base by providing accurate information, building rapport, resolving concerns, and processing transactions as efficiently as possible.
- Assists other employees/departments/branches to promote teamwork and good communication.
- Promotes a positive bank image through community involvement.
- Active participant with the cashier for the bank wire program for processing incoming and outgoing wires
- Provide back up to operations staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Postsecondary education or relevant bank experience preferred.
- Cash handling and account opening experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic math skills: add, subtract, and divide.
- Foundation in accounting principles as they relate to banking.
- Communication skills and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to handle conflict
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to operate office equipment as necessary to complete essential duties listed above

- Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently, located inside an office building. The employee is also occasionally exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
This position will work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a Saturday rotation.
