ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, performs such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes and amplifiers. This person works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy. Candidate will be required to occasionally do repetitive intrusions for sensor testing including climbing, crawling, jumping, and running. Alarm annunciator experience or knowledge will be helpful but not required. Will be required to perform other job related tasks as assigned.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Maintains repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
- Will be required to possess a good understanding of basic electronic theories and techniques and familiarity with standard electronic components.
- The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Will be required to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- This job requires occasional travel to different TDY locations for government test support.
OTHER DUTIES: Vehicle operator, safety, supply, housekeeping, plant-in-place records, test equipment, and courier responsibilities will be assigned. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics. Requires manual dexterity necessary to perform repairs and modifications to small assemblies such as integrated circuit boards.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Must possess a valid drivers' license. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
