JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY :
A welder is a skilled person who employs a welding process with certain parameters to fuse different metals for achieving desired weld shapes. They use heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape. They also polish and smooth out metal surfaces they weld together. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions.
JOB DUTIES :
Essential Functions :
- Reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determining the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Setting up components for welding according to specifications.
- Operating angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Aligning components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamping pieces.
- Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
- Repairing machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Testing and inspecting welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Maintaining equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
