The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) for Mental Health Skill Building will work with individuals experiencing mental health challenges to develop and improve essential life skills, coping strategies, and adaptive behaviors. The QMHP will provide individualized services designed to empower clients, foster independence, and support recovery. This position involves direct service delivery in both one-on-one and group settings, focusing on developing skills related to daily functioning, communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess needs and goals related to mental health recovery. Develop personalized skill-building plans to improve daily living, coping mechanisms, social skills, and other critical life skills.
Direct Service Delivery: Provide one-on-one sessions to help clients develop skills related to budgeting, self-care, medication management, communication, socialization, and emotional regulation. Use evidence-based therapeutic techniques and behavioral interventions.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly assess client progress toward goals, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure ongoing skill development. Document and maintain case notes and reports in accordance with agency policies and regulatory standards.
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including case managers, social workers, and other mental health professionals, to ensure coordinated care and support for clients. Participate in case conferences and team meetings to discuss client progress and challenges.
Crisis Management & Support: Provide crisis intervention services when necessary, offering emotional support and practical assistance during times of distress or mental health crises. Use de-escalation techniques and develop safety plans in collaboration with clients.
Community Resources & Referrals: Assist clients in identifying and accessing community resources, services, and support systems to help them meet their recovery goals. Make referrals to other mental health services, housing, vocational programs, or legal assistance as needed.
Client Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of clients, ensuring they have access to services and opportunities that promote recovery and improve quality of life. Support clients in navigating complex systems, such as healthcare, legal, or social service systems.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely records of service delivery, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes. Ensure that all documentation meets agency standards and complies with confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and supervision to stay current with best practices in mental health care, skill building, and client-centered approaches.
Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in Social Work (MSW), Psychology, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Must meet the state’s criteria for a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), including licensure or certification (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
Previous experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, especially in skill-building or rehabilitation services, is preferred.
Other Requirements
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to clients' homes and community settings.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Successful completion of background checks and drug screening.
