Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant(CNA)

Location: Macclenny, FL

Position Type: 3 months

Summary:

This is a State of Florida Psychiatric Hospital which operates 24/7, 7 days a week. This state-owned hospital has 613 beds and provides inpatient psychiatric care for clients committed to the hospital by the state or through the criminal justice system.

Duties:

• Assess resident complaints and determine action, notifying supervisor when necessary.
• Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources.
• Administer oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy, and within their scope of practice as defined by Florida law.
• Observe for side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to assigned supervisor, or further assessment and treatment.
• Prepare paperwork as required for consults within facility and outside appointments.
• Coordinate residents’ appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriately timed as need for resident movement to and from the unit.
• Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice as defined by facility and Florida law and notifying supervisor for further assistance.
• Complete incident reports factually and objectively, within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
• Complete progress notes on resident care within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
• Advocate for residents’ recovery and safety.
• Maintain appropriate and professional behaviour during interactions with residents’, supervisors, and other staff members.
• Display professionalism throughout employment including, but not limited to, arriving to work on time, maintaining an accurate timesheet, and maintaining professional appearance as defined by facility policy.
  
  

Experience:

• Must have a current State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant license.
• Must have current CPR certification or able to complete once hired.
• Intervention with combative persons may be required.
