Summary :
At Duchesne Academy, we focus on the whole child - intellectual, spiritual, and physical. Led by the Religious of the Sacred Hert Goals and Criteria , along with our curriculum, our programming is strongly rooted in the Catholic doctrine. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship and have experience coaching student athletes, preferably in K-12 environments. Based on experience, the Physical Education Teacher / Coach may serve in the Lower, Middle, or Upper School in any of the following sports : Cross Country, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Lacrosse, Track and Field, Swimming, Golf, Tennis or Softball.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Plan, organize, and lead lessons designed to promote academic, social, emotional, and physical development in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Prepare lesson plans that are aligned with the Duchesne PE curriculum and that accommodate differences in student grade level, learning styles, and physical abilities.
- Assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Update curriculum maps throughout the year for all units taught.
- Supervise students and foster a safe learning environment, by monitoring and responding to events in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
- Attend faculty meetings, serve on committees as required, seek and attend professional development opportunities.
- Evaluate each student's growth and performance.
- Coach two seasons of sports at either the Middle School or Upper School level.
